Dr. Cherie Lucas

Biography

Dr. Cherie Lucas is a Nexus Fellow at the University of New South Wales, School of Population Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health. With over 35 years of experience as a registered pharmacist, she has held various roles including Community Pharmacist-in-Charge, Hospital Pharmacist Specialist, and Clinical Research Associate in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Lucas has more than 25 years of academic teaching experience across multiple universities including the University of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney. She has significantly contributed to pharmacy education through her research and teaching, focusing on curriculum instruction, design, and assessment, as well as the integration of generative AI in educational practices. An accomplished author, Dr. Lucas has published over 90 manuscripts and conference papers, serving as a senior author on more than 57 of these works. She currently holds editorial positions in various pharmacy-related journals and is involved in several academic boards and committees, promoting improvements in health education and pharmacy practices. Dr. Lucas' contributions to education have been recognized with multiple awards, including the Australian Awards for University Teaching Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning and a Fellowship from the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.
