Biography

Cheryl A.M. Anderson is a Professor and the Dean of the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at the University of California, San Diego. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Washington and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As Director of the UCSD Center of Excellence in Health Promotion and Equity, Dr. Anderson is deeply involved in research and education in the field of public health. Her primary research interests include nutrition and chronic disease prevention, particularly in cardiovascular epidemiology. She is the principal investigator of National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute-funded studies examining the effects of dietary sodium and potassium intake on cardiovascular health. Additionally, she leads behavioral intervention studies aimed at improving adherence to dietary sodium recommendations. Dr. Anderson is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and has served in various leadership roles, including Chair of its Nutrition Committee and Vice Chair of the Epidemiology and Prevention Council.
