Biography

Cheryl brings a unique combination of practice, teaching, and scholarship in the nursing profession. She has held clinical roles within regional health authorities including direct care, advanced practice, and administration. At the provincial level, she has worked as a nursing workforce policy consultant and senior public health nursing advisor, as well as serving as the executive director of the Population Public Health Branch. Cheryl has also been the executive director of the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba. She is committed to nursing education, having worked as a sessional lecturer for eight years while being a full-time clinician. Dr. Cusack has played an instrumental role in numerous projects aimed at enhancing community health nursing practice at both provincial and national levels and has a long history of involvement with Community Health Nurses Canada, having served as past president. Since moving to academia full-time in 2022, her teaching interests now focus on population public health, equity, and nursing leadership.
