Dr. Cheryl Krause

Biography

Cheryl Ann Krause is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. She earned her Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School in 2013 and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating summa cum laude. Prior to her current role, she served as a Circuit Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Circuit starting in 2014. Judge Krause has an extensive legal background, having clerked for Justice Anthony M. Kennedy at the United States Supreme Court and worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division for the Southern District of New York. She has also practiced as a partner at a multinational law firm specializing in white-collar criminal defense and government investigations. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she is a member of the American Law Institute and serves on several boards, including the National Constitution Center and the American Inns of Court. In 2021, she was appointed by Chief Justice Roberts to the Space Facilities Committee of the United States Judicial Conference. Judge Krause has contributed to legal scholarship with her law review article titled 'Lawyer Wellbeing Crisis: Profession,' which won the Warren E. Burger Prize in 2019.
