Biography

Cheryl Peters is an occupational environmental epidemiologist and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. She has significant expertise in occupational environmental causes of cancer and is a primary prevention researcher. Peters is co-principal investigator of CAREX Canada, a national exposure surveillance project that aims to identify and reduce Canadians’ exposures to carcinogens in the workplace and general environment. She is recognized as a Canadian expert in the measurement and control of solar ultraviolet radiation exposure in work and leisure settings. Her research interests lie in exposure assessment science, focusing on improving methods to estimate past exposures to known or suspected carcinogens. Peters is also involved in knowledge translation efforts and is a member of the Canadian Urban Environment Research Consortium (CANUE) and the Exposure Measurement Knowledge Translation Exchange Expert Teams, particularly the Greenspace/Bluespace Data Team.
