Biography

Chi Zhang holds an LL.B. and a Master of Law (Research) from Tsinghua University, and a Ph.D. in Commercial Law from the University of Glasgow. He joined the University of Glasgow as a Lecturer in Commercial Law in 2019. Before this, he taught business law at the China University of Mining and Technology in Beijing. His research interests are centered on corporate law, business trusts, investment funds law, and financial investment law, with a particular focus on Chinese business law. Currently, he is involved in a project examining the international financial regulatory dimensions of the Belt & Road Initiative and conducting research into the internationalization of China’s securities regulation. Chi is willing to supervise postgraduate research students focusing on company law and financial law. He has presented several papers at international conferences, including discussions on the enforcement of fiduciary duties and protective mechanisms within corporate governance, especially in the context of Chinese private equity. Furthermore, he explores the implications of climate change on financial regulations and engages with themes of sustainable finance.
