Biography

Professor Chia-Ling Yang obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Literature from National Taiwan University, a Master's degree in Art History from the University of Warwick, and a PhD in Art and Archaeology from the University of London (SOAS). Yang has worked as a visiting scholar at Academia Sinica and as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on Modern and Contemporary Chinese Art, particularly the historiography of painting, antiquarianism, and elite culture. She is involved in examining the visual culture of East Asia and its connections to the West during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Yang welcomes research students interested in Chinese painting, calligraphy, and cross-cultural artistic production. Her academic contributions include collaborations on museum exhibition projects with prestigious institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Museum, and the Musée Cernuschi. She teaches various courses including PhD and MScR in History of Art and has supervised numerous research projects that explore diverse themes in art history, contemporary practices, and cultural identity.
