Chiara Braconi is a Professor and Chair in Hepatobiliary Oncology at the University of Glasgow, where she leads research focused on hepato-pancreatico-biliary tumors. Her work aims to delineate novel treatment strategies for these cancers, emphasizing the integration of genomics and epigenomics with patient-derived models to identify therapeutic targets and biomarkers. She received her MD from the University of Ancona in Italy and completed her fellowship in Medical Oncology in 2006. Chiara enrolled in a joint PhD program between the University of Ancona and The Ohio State University, where she underwent post-doctoral training. During her career, she has worked at the University of Glasgow from 2012 to 2014, supported by a Scottish Senior Clinical Research Fellowship. She also has experience as a clinician-scientist at the Institute of Cancer Research/Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she engaged in studies that combined molecular biology with clinical research in biliary-pancreatic cancers. Since joining the Institute of Cancer Sciences in May 2019, she has developed a research platform to connect laboratory research with clinical development, focusing on accelerating advancements in predictive biomarkers and therapeutics for biliary cancers. Chiara collaborates with national and international consortia to support collaborative research programs in this field.
