Biography

Chiara Lo Prete is an associate professor in Energy Economics at the John Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at Penn State University, where she also serves as the associate head for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is the Wilson Faculty Fellow and a faculty member in the Intercollege Graduate Degree Program in Energy, Environmental, and Food Economics. Her research focuses on electricity market design, natural gas market design, and the impacts of environmental regulations on electric power generation. Lo Prete employs mathematical modeling and empirical methods to analyze market structures, resource adequacy, and the integration of renewable energy sources. Prior to her position at Penn State, she was a Ziff Environmental Fellow at Harvard University. She holds a B.A. in Economics (summa cum laude) from LUISS University, an M.A. in Energy Economics from Scuola Enrico Mattei, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Geography and Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
