Biography

Chihiro Morishima, M.D., is an associate professor in Laboratory Medicine at UW Medicine and the director of the Clinical Immunology Laboratory and Research Testing Services. Her clinical focus includes developing immunological monitoring systems and the interpretation of serum and urine protein electrophoresis and immunofixation results. She is a board-certified pediatrician and has played a pivotal role as the founding director of the Immune Monitoring Central Laboratory, currently serving as a consultant for the NCI-sponsored Cancer Immunotherapy Trials Network. Dr. Morishima is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and holds a subboard certification in Pediatric Rheumatology. She is also a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer. Dr. Morishima completed her fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology at Seattle Children's Hospital/UW Medicine in 1995 and her residency in Pediatrics at St. Louis Children's Hospital in 1991. She obtained her M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1988, and pursued additional teaching appointments in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and the Department of Immunology at the University of Washington.
