Dr. Chikwesiri Imediegwu

Biography

Chikwesiri Imediegwu is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester, focusing on design optimization and sustainable manufacturing. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London, where he completed his doctorate from February 2016 to February 2020. His academic and research journey includes postdoctoral roles that advanced fluid topology optimization and the development of novel materials with a focus on sustainable practices in engineering. As part of his current role, he leads the Sustainable Multifunctional Materials Optimised Design (SMMOD) Group, emphasizing the integration of sustainable materials into engineering solutions. His research interests include the derivation and application of sustainable multifunctional materials across structural mechanics, heat transfer, and bio-engineering, particularly in the context of energy storage and in-vivo orthopedic devices. Chikwesiri actively collaborates on various projects aimed at advancing the technology of structural batteries and other multifunctional energy devices. He is also engaged in teaching courses related to computer-aided engineering and advanced programming in mechanical design, aligning his work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals to contribute positively to education and technological advancement.
