Biography

Chirag Shah is a Professor at the Information School (iSchool) at the University of Washington (UW), Seattle. He holds additional positions as an Adjunct Professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering and in the Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) program. Shah is the founding director of the InfoSeeking Lab and a co-director of the Center for Responsibility in AI Systems & Experiences (RAISE). His research focuses on intelligent information access systems, exploring areas such as task-oriented search, proactive recommendations, and conversational systems. He has a distinguished history of engagement with generative AI, particularly in information access and image classification problems.
