Chloé Arson is a full professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She earned her Master's in civil engineering and M.Sc. in geomechanics in 2006, followed by a Ph.D. in geomechanics in 2009 from Ecole des Ponts Paris Tech in France. Before joining Georgia Tech in 2012, she worked as an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University. At Georgia Tech, she got tenured in 2016 and was promoted to full professor in 2022. Her teaching focuses on mechanics-related courses, including mechanics of materials at the undergraduate level and computational mechanics and theoretical geomechanics at the graduate level. Arson has chaired various committees, including diversity and inclusion initiatives within her department, and plays an active role in the LGBTQ+ resource center at Georgia Tech. Her research interests encompass damage healing in rock mechanics, computational geomechanics, and the development of numerical tools for environmental impact assessment. Recently, she has been investigating how artificial intelligence can optimize subsurface exploration processes. She has received multiple grants from the U.S. National Science Foundation, as well as awards for her research and teaching contributions, including the NSF CAREER award in 2016 and the Georgia Tech CEE interdisciplinary research award in 2017.
