Chris Danta's research operates at the intersection of literary theory, philosophy, science, and theology. As a literary anthropologist, he is interested in rethinking the means by which humans draw knowledge from systems of religion, science, and literature. He is currently completing a book titled 'Future Fables: Literature, Evolution, and Artificial Intelligence,' which aims to understand how post-Darwin literary imagination is shaped by current anxieties surrounding AI. The book explores the co-evolution of humans, animals, and machines through literary and scientific lenses. His previous works include 'Animal Fables and Darwin: Literature, Speciesism, and Metaphor' and 'Literature Suspends Death: Sacrifice, Storytelling, and Kierkegaard, Kafka, and Blanchot,' which analyze critical literature's responses to biblical narratives of sacrifice. Danta has published in various international peer-reviewed journals and has been recognized as an ARC Postdoctoral Fellow and an ARC Future Fellow. He was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities in 2024.
