Dr. Chris Francis

Biography

Chris Francis is a Professor in Earth System Science and Oceans at Stanford University. His research focuses on the molecular, biochemical, and ecological aspects of microbial geochemical cycling of nitrogen and metals in the environment. He is particularly interested in determining key organisms, their genomes, and the functional genes that elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying biogeochemical processes. His work employs a variety of methodologies including laboratory experiments, computational analysis, and field studies to explore these complex interactions in the ecological systems.
