Chris French is a Lecturer in Architecture Contemporary Practice at the University of Edinburgh. Since 2009, he has taught architectural design theory at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He leads the two-year MArch studio titled Grounding Naples and has been involved in several design studios throughout his tenure. He graduated with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh with an MArch in 2009, where he also obtained his PhD in Architecture Design in 2015, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. His professional practice includes experience with Simpson Brown Architects, Kalm Architecture, and MMasA Arquitectos in Spain. He has served as an invited critic at several universities, including the AA School and Newcastle University, and has contributed to multiple design competitions. Chris has also supervised numerous undergraduate dissertations and currently supervises PhD candidates exploring themes of architectural design, exhibitions, and the interplay of city and countryside characteristics.
