Chris Fromme is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Cornell University and the Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology. He graduated with a B.A. in Biology from Cornell in 1999 and completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry under Greg Verdine at Harvard University in 2004. Following his doctorate, Chris completed postdoctoral training as a Miller Institute Fellow with Randy Schekman at UC Berkeley. Since joining the Cornell faculty in 2008, his research has focused on the Golgi complex, which plays a critical role in the sorting of cellular proteins. His investigations include how GTPase regulators function within the Golgi and their role in maintaining cellular homeostasis amidst dynamic conditions. He employs biochemical, structural, and cell biological approaches to uncover the molecular mechanisms that govern Golgi function. Chris teaches courses in Cell Developmental Biology and has participated in BMCB graduate courses, sharing his extensive knowledge of biochemical and structural biology with students.
