Dr. Chris Hunter

Biography

Chris Hunter is the Herchel Smith Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Emmanuel College. His research focuses on understanding weak intermolecular forces, which play a crucial role in chemistry, biology, and materials science. He investigates synthetic supramolecular systems and develops quantitative descriptions of weak non-covalent interactions. Hunter's work includes fundamental investigations into the nature of intermolecular interactions, establishing a sound quantitative basis for predicting thermodynamic contributions that influence the behavior of complex systems. He has worked extensively on developing models to understand the properties and functions of a wide range of molecular systems and has published numerous papers in leading journals. Before his current role, he was a lecturer at the University of Sheffield and has held significant research fellowships and awards throughout his career.
