Biography

Chris Kleijn is a Full Professor at Delft University of Technology, where he has served in various academic roles since 1991. His research is primarily focused on experimental and computational heat and mass transfer, particularly in materials processing such as thin film deposition, steel melting, and welding. In recent years, his academic focus has transitioned towards educational leadership; he serves as the Director of Education for the Faculty of Applied Sciences and is a Comenius senior fellow on education recognized by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Kleijn received his MSc in Applied Physics and his PhD in Applied Sciences from Delft University of Technology. He has collaborated with prestigious institutions including MIT and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as a visiting scientist and professor. Over the course of his academic career, he has authored more than 200 internationally reviewed scientific publications and contributed to book chapters. His current teaching responsibilities cover a range of courses in Applied Physics, including Thermodynamics and Transport Phenomena.
