Biography

Chris Louttit is an Assistant Professor of English Literature at Radboud University. His research focuses on the afterlives of Victorian fiction, with particular interests in the works of Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Gaskell, Mary Elizabeth Braddon, and Henry Mayhew. His publications explore unifying themes such as the relationship between fiction and popular culture in the Victorian period and its interaction with media, particularly illustrations and adaptations in film and television. With an interdisciplinary focus, his work extends to adaptation studies and neo-Victorian studies, having appeared in journals like Adaptation, Book History, Dickens Quarterly, Gothic Studies, Neo-Victorian Studies, and Philological Quarterly. Chris currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the international peer-reviewed journal English Studies and has held the position of President of the Dickens Society. He is also involved in the Harting Scheme, which facilitates exchange programs for students between English and Dutch universities, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in higher education.
