Biography

Chris Xiaoxuan Lu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at University College London (UCL). His research focuses on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, specifically on scaling foundation models for embodied AI. He leverages recent advancements in AI and machine learning to adapt foundation models for real-world applications, addressing significant challenges in deploying these models in diverse and unpredictable environments. Key areas of his work include enhancing generalization modalities to ensure robust performance of AI models in conjunction with various sensors, optimizing computational efficiency to ensure that foundation models operate effectively with limited hardware resources, and improving human-machine interaction for more intuitive interactivity between AI systems and human users. His core research mission is to enable embodied AI systems to function reliably in real-world settings.
