Biography

Chris Xiaoxuan Lu is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University College London (UCL), where he directs the Robotics Multimodal AI laboratory (RoMA lab). His research focuses on applying cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to develop foundation models that can adapt to real-world applications. He addresses key challenges in deploying these models across diverse and unpredictable environments, with a particular focus on generalization modalities, computational efficiency, and human-machine interaction. Prior to his position at UCL, he was a faculty member at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Liverpool. He completed his PhD and post-doctoral studies at the Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford, after earning his M.Eng. degree from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
