Professor Dr. Chris Marianetti

Biography

Chris Marianetti is an Associate Professor at Columbia University's Data Science Institute, specializing in Materials Science, Applied Physics, and Applied Mathematics. He obtained his Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering from MIT in 2004 and holds a B.S. and M.S. from Ohio State University. His main research area focuses on computing the properties of materials using first-principles quantum mechanics. Currently, he explores several cutting-edge topics including strongly correlated electron materials, the use of high throughput massively parallel computing within materials physics, and data-based approaches aligned with the Materials Genome Initiative. He is dedicated to advancing methodologies for addressing the many-Fermion problem, seeking innovative solutions to complex challenges in material properties evaluation and simulation.
