Biography

Christopher Samuel is the Director of Legal Research Writing at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law. He teaches courses focused on legal analysis, advanced research methods, persuasive writing, and oral advocacy. Additionally, he coordinates and oversees the Faculty's competitive mooting program. His involvement extends to the Canadian Bar Association, where he chairs the Criminal Justice Junior Lawyers sections and presents at the Alberta Law Conference. Samuel holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta (2006) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick (2010). He has been recognized with multiple scholastic honors, including the New Brunswick Trial Lawyers Association prize for advocacy and was elected valedictorian of his graduating class. Prior to his academic career, he served as a Crown Prosecutor with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, appearing in the Provincial Court, Court of Queen's Bench, and the Alberta Court of Appeal. He began teaching as a sessional instructor at the Faculty of Law in 2014.
