Biography

Chris Sangwin is a Chair in Technology Enhanced Science Education at the University of Edinburgh's School of Mathematics. His research focuses on automatic assessment in mathematics using computer algebra, particularly through the development of the STACK system. He also emphasizes mathematical problem solving using the Moore method, which aligns with student-centered approaches, alongside notable contributions to curriculum development. Sangwin has authored several books, including 'How Round Circle', which examines the connections between mathematics and engineering through physical models. He has also taken on significant roles in the academic community, serving as a joint editor for the journal Teaching Mathematics Applications, published by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. His academic journey includes a comprehensive background in mathematics education, with prior appointments at Loughborough University and the University of Birmingham.
