Biography

Professor Chris Sprysak holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta, as well as a Master of Laws in International Taxation from New York University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He has received numerous academic awards including the Fulbright Scholarship, Governor General’s Silver Medal, Horace Harvey Gold Medal in Law, and Dr. Hu Harries Gold Medal in Business. He obtained his Chartered Accountants’ designation in 1995 and was called to the Alberta Bar in 1999. Prior to joining the Faculty of Law, Professor Sprysak practiced as an accountant at Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and as a taxation lawyer at Felesky Flynn LLP. His teaching and research interests primarily focus on taxation law and policy. He has taught courses such as Taxation Law, Estate Planning, and Corporate Taxation. He has been nominated for the Faculty’s Tevie Miller Teaching Excellence Award in 2010 and has published articles in various taxation law academic and practitioner journals.
