Chris Stevens is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on Ultrafast Electronics, a rapidly developing field that explores the ultimate speed limits of electronics. He evaluates the performance of ultrafast electronic systems and develops new methods for analyzing electromagnetic signals. His group is centered on developing techniques to investigate circuit performance at speeds exceeding 100 GHz, which conventional circuit analysis techniques cannot accommodate. Stevens is also engaged in the development of metamaterial devices for various high-frequency applications, including NMR microscopy, ultra-high Q RF filters, and ground penetrating radar. Currently, he is focused on designing metamaterial devices that can break the Abbe limit and utilize the interactions of microwave signals with living tissue for medical imaging. Another significant area of his research is the development of magnetic metamaterials for contactless data transfer and power distribution, which may enable technologies that replace wired connections in integrated circuits.
