Chris Telmer is an Associate Professor of Financial Economics at Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business. His research interests include the impact of government subsidies on financing renewable energy assets, consumption behavior, exchange rate behavior, the effects of labor-market risk on financial markets, and intergenerational mobility. Before joining the Tepper School in 1993, he studied at the University of Western Ontario, where he earned his Bachelor with Honours in 1986, and at Queen's University in Kingston, where he received his PhD in 1992. He has acted as a visiting scholar at various universities within the Federal Reserve System across Canada, Chile, Japan, Spain, and Sweden. In addition to his academic endeavors, he has served as an educational consultant in Japan, the Russian Federation, Spain, and Ukraine, and has worked on Wall Street. Over the years, he has received multiple accolades, including the Undergraduate Teaching Award in 1995 and the George Leland Bach Award for MBA Teaching in 2001 from the Tepper School of Business. A native of the Toronto area, he remains an avid supporter of the Maple Leafs.
