Biography

Chris Tuck is a Reader in Strategic Studies at King's College London, a position he has held since joining the Department of Defence Studies in 1997. With previous experience as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Defence and International Affairs at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, he has engaged deeply with conflict security and strategy. Chris obtained his PhD from the University of Reading, where his thesis examined British strategy in relation to the war termination during the Malaysian-Indonesian Confrontation from 1963 to 1966. He holds an MSc. in Strategic Studies from the University of Aberystwyth. His research interests focus on the strategic utility of landpower, issues related to war termination, counterinsurgency operations, and historical military strategies. Chris teaches a wide range of military courses, including the Advanced Command Staff Course and runs an MA Special Subject on the American Civil War. He is open to supervising PhD students in the areas he researches and is actively involved in promoting scholarly research in the history of war, including organizing seminars and conferences.
