Dr. Chris Weisener

Biography

Chris Weisener is a Professor at the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research at the University of Windsor. His research specializes in geomicrobiology, redox chemistry, microbial ecology, and sediment dynamics, with a focus on microbial nutrient cycling in terrestrial and aquatic systems. He has significant expertise in the development of novel environmental tracers and the assessment of contaminants in ecosystems, particularly in the Great Lakes basin. His work addresses complex linkages between bacteria and metal cycling, and the stressors affecting local and regional ecology from both natural and anthropogenic sources. Dr. Weisener has held various academic positions including Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the same institution. He completed his Ph.D. in Applied Science from the University of South Australia in 2003. Dr. Weisener is committed to providing insights into environmental issues facing our ecosystems through his research and collaboration with the national and international communities.
