Chris Zegras is a Professor of Mobility and Urban Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and currently serves as the Department Head of the Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP). His teaching focuses on planning methods, integrated land use-transportation planning, quantitative methods, and transportation finance. He has co-taught urban planning design studios in diverse locations such as Beijing, Boston, and Cartagena. As a Lead Principal Investigator for the Future Urban Mobility research group, he worked on interdisciplinary projects sponsored by the Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology from 2015 to 2020. Zegras's research addresses metropolitan mobility challenges, exploring human behavior, digital transformation, and strategic planning techniques. He has also consulted for a variety of governmental and non-governmental organizations. Before his tenure as a professor, he worked at the International Institute for Energy Conservation and MIT’s Laboratory for Energy and Environment. Zegras holds a BA in Economics from Tufts University, a Master in City Planning, a Master of Science in Transportation from MIT, and a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from MIT.
