Professor Dr. Christer Grönlund

Biography

Christer Grönlund is an adjunct professor focused on medical ultrasound imaging with applications in vascular and neuromuscular fields. He leads a research group dedicated to developing advanced imaging methods using signal and image processing techniques. His work incorporates spatiotemporal statistical deep convolutional neural networks alongside customized imaging sequences utilizing programmable ultrasound systems. Grönlund's expertise extends to electromyography, employing high-density multichannel EMG systems, and near-infrared spectroscopy for various biomedical applications, including e-Health and telemedicine. He holds an Associate Professorship in Biomedical Engineering, earned in 2012, following a PhD in the same field completed in 2007 and an MSc in Engineering Physics from 2002. Throughout his career, Grönlund has been involved in numerous significant research projects aimed at improving diagnostic capabilities and patient care in the biomedical engineering domain.
