Biography

Christi S. Ulmer is an Associate Professor at Duke University School of Medicine and a clinical research psychologist at the Durham VA Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation (ADAPT). With over 17 years of experience treating sleep disturbances, her research focuses on enhancing understanding of health correlates of sleep disorders, improving patient access to behavioral sleep medicine, and developing effective behaviorally-based treatments. Ulmer is a Diplomate in Behavioral Sleep Medicine and serves as faculty in the Durham VA Health Psychology fellowship training program, which is accredited by the Behavioral Sleep Medicine training program within the VA healthcare system. She has contributed to the development of VA/DOD Clinical Practice Guidelines for insomnia and sleep apnea and has been a consultant for the VA on the dissemination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia for more than eight years. Passionate about expanding patient access to effective interventions, Ulmer is committed to increasing the recognition of sleep's critical role in overall health.
