Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Christian Back. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Professor Back works in the field of condensed matter physics. His research activities encompass the high-quality fabrication of hybrid magnetic layered systems and the investigation of dynamic magnetic properties on picosecond time scales. He examines nanostructured magnetic elements using magnetic microscopy methods that provide high temporal and spatial resolution. His work broadens the spectrum of static and dynamic magneto-transport methods. Professor Back studied physics at the Technical University of Munich and at RWTH Aachen. He completed his doctoral research at ETH Zurich from 1992 to 1995 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (1995-1996) and IBM San Jose (1996-1997). From 1998 to 2001, he held a position as a research assistant at ETH Zurich. In 2001, he accepted an offer for a full professorship in experimental physics at the University of Regensburg. In 2017, he was appointed as a full professor in experimental physics at the Technical University of Munich, specializing in the field of functional spin systems. Professor Back is a member of the board of the German Research Foundation's (DFG) collaborative research centers and acted as the spokesman for the DFG Priority Program from 2011 to 2017.
