Christian Bédard graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Université de Montréal in 1998. He also completed an internship in companion animal medicine, followed by a residency in clinical pathology and a Master's degree in veterinary hematology, focusing particularly on the screening of hypercoagulable states in cats. Since 2004, he has been a member of the American College of Veterinary Pathology. Currently, he is a full professor in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Université de Montréal and has recently served as the director of this department. He collaborates in teaching and participates in diagnostic service activities as a clinical pathologist. His current research interests particularly focus on early diagnosis of thromboembolic disorders in animals. He has implemented new laboratory techniques for studying and diagnosing hemostatic diseases in animals. Bédard has authored and co-authored about fifty scientific articles and presentations.
