Biography

Christian Bourdy is a professor at the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He specializes in psychotherapy with a particular interest in somatization and functional somatic syndromes. At the Sacré-Cœur Hospital in Montreal, he implemented a specific approach program for hypochondriacal patients with somatic delusions aimed at reducing emergency visits and promoting encounters at the Family Medicine Unit. From 2008 to 2014, he served as Vice-Dean for undergraduate medical studies at the University of Montreal and was the president of the Conference of Vice-Deans for undergraduate medical studies of Quebec medical faculties from 2010 to 2012. Additionally, from 2012 to 2013, he co-directed the Conference of Vice-Deans of Canadian medical faculties. He has participated in numerous scientific workshops and conferences addressing topics such as anxiety, depression, somatoform disorders, and supportive psychotherapy in primary care.
