Biography

Christian Freudlsperger is an Assistant Professor in Multilevel Politics at ETH Zurich and a member of the Center for Comparative International Studies. He leads the Research Group on Multilevel Politics (MLP) and is affiliated with the Research Group on European Politics (EUP) under the direction of Frank Schimmelfennig. Additionally, he is a research fellow at the Jacques Delors Centre of the Hertie School in Berlin. Prof. Freudlsperger has completed degrees at the Hertie School, Sciences Po in Paris, and Ludwig Maximilians University. His research experience includes a visiting researcher role at the European University Institute and a postdoctoral position at the Hertie School and ETH. He is the principal investigator for the SNSF Starting Grant project "Public Reinsurance Multilevel Polities (EUROPE RE)" and the SNSF-DFG project "Joint Implementation EU (IMPLEMENT.EU)." His research primarily explores the intersection of European integration, comparative federalism, and political development, with contributions appearing in journals such as Comparative Political Studies, European Journal of Political Research, and others. Notably, his monograph, "Trade Policy and Multilevel Government: Organizing Openness," was published by Oxford University Press in 2020.
