Dr. Christian Mauro

Biography

Christian F. Mauro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Duke University, where he has been an influential faculty member for several years. He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University and went on to earn his master’s and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Dr. Mauro has been actively involved in clinical practice and research, focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and its application to pediatric populations. He has served as the Director of the Psychosocial Treatment Clinic at Duke University Medical Center since 2003, where he supervises and trains graduate students, psychology interns, and child psychiatry fellows in evidence-based practices tailored for children and adolescents. Under his leadership, the APA Accredited Pre-doctoral Psychology Internship Program has gained national recognition for providing thorough training in critical areas of Clinical Psychology. His research interests include family-based treatment for early childhood obsessive-compulsive disorder and interventions for adolescent suicide attempts, with multiple studies funded by the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Mauro's dedication to advancing psychological treatment and training is evident in his extensive involvement in clinical trials and educational programs that support the development of future mental health professionals.
