Biography

Christian Mejia (he/they) believes in the power of light to transport moments and cradle particular places. Light affects mood and informs emotional landscapes, enhancing everyday experiences and making our lives richer. The right light can tell stories that words cannot express. Christian’s design approach seeks to create environments that encourage people to lean in and learn something about our shared humanity. His design practice encompasses live performance, architectural lighting, and immersive entertainment, with work showcased in built environments worldwide. Cherished collaborations include venues such as Geffen Playhouse, Fountain Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, ACT, and New Conservatory Theatre Center. His architectural lighting design experience includes projects with Universal Creative, Lincoln Center NYC, and global Soho House properties. Christian earned his BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. More of his work can be viewed at christianvmejia.com.
