Biography

Christian Toso graduated from the University of Geneva in 1997 and underwent a dual clinical and scientific parallel training. He completed rotations in Swiss hospitals and became a board-certified abdominal surgeon. He performed a fellowship in liver and pancreas transplant surgery at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. Currently, he is the Chief of Division of Abdominal Surgery at the University of Geneva. His research focuses on pancreatic islet transplantation, where he spent several years in the laboratory in Geneva. In 2008, he obtained a PhD in immunology and surgical research from the University of Alberta. In 2009, he returned to Geneva supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation's SCORE Professorship, which allowed him to establish a research group focused on liver cancer using translational explorations.
