Dr. Christian Vestergaard

Biography

Christian Vestergaard is a Clinical Professor at Aarhus University, particularly within the Department of Clinical Medicine and the Department of Dermatology and Venereology. His research focuses on inflammatory skin diseases, such as atopic eczema, psoriasis, and blistering disorders, which include bullous pemphigoid. Vestergaard has a specific interest in the management of skin diseases in primary care settings and explores the prevalence of these diseases in special patient populations, especially among pregnant women and those with multiple autoimmune conditions. His collaboration reaches both nationally and internationally, given the small field of dermatology. In addition to his research, he teaches dermatology and venereology to medical degree students and is involved in postgraduate education for future specialists in Dermatology and related fields. He also organizes an annual dermatology continuing education course for general practitioners. Vestergaard's lab is home to PhD, master’s, and bachelor’s students, emphasizing his commitment to education and mentorship within the field of dermatology.
