Christie Reside began her career with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as a Flute player at the age of 19. She received formal training from Timothy Hutchins at McGill University in Montreal and continued her studies with Lise Daoust, Marina Piccinini, and Patrick Gallois at the Banff Centre for Arts. An active participant in numerous competitions, Reside won the National Music Festival in Canada at age 14 and placed in notable competitions such as the Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artists Competition in England and the Leonardo de Lorenzo International Flute Competition in Italy. She has been invited to participate in festivals around the world, including the Spoleto Music Festival in Italy, the Bellingham Music Festival, and the Mountain View International Festival of Song and Chamber Music. As an enthusiastic chamber musician, Reside has collaborated with artists such as Rudolf Jansen, Olivier Thouin, Yegor Dyachkov, and Lise Daoust. She has performed as a soloist with several orchestras, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, l’Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec, and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Currently, she serves as the Principal Flute of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, a position she has held since 2004, and joins the Seattle Symphony as Principal Flute for the 2013-2014 season. In addition to her performing career, Reside maintains a private studio and is a sought-after clinician and adjudicator across Canada.
