Dr. Christin Abel

Biography

Christin Abel is an Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in the analysis and understanding of vegetation and land cover changes in Global Drylands, with a primary focus on the Sahel zone. She has an educational background in Cartography and experience in environmental remote sensing through large international projects in academia and the private sector, such as Copernicus Land. Christin has developed comprehensive skills in implementing application-oriented and commercially research-based projects, including business-related activities. Her scientific interests lie in environmental monitoring with the use of integrated remote sensing and GIS technology, as well as proficient skills in Python programming for map production and geodata processing. Over the past five years, she has collaborated on significant research initiatives at the country/territory level, contributing to the understanding of environmental changes and facilitating the use of remote sensing technology in various contexts.
