Dr. Christina Allen

Biography

Christina Allen, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at Yale University. She joined Yale in November 2020, having previously worked in the Sports Medicine Shoulder Division at the University of California, San Francisco. An expert in the treatment of knee and shoulder injuries, especially for women athletes, Dr. Allen works extensively with collegiate soccer and national teams, including serving as the orthopaedic team physician for the U.S. Women's and Men's National Soccer Teams and the USA Taekwondo National Team. Dr. Allen has a special interest in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, meniscus transplantation, and ACL revision surgery. She has conducted research in ACL reconstruction outcomes and is involved in several significant studies funded by medical organizations. A strong advocate for physical therapy, she emphasizes the importance of rehabilitation for returning athletes to their sport. Dr. Allen completed her medical degree at UCLA, a residency at the University of Pittsburgh, and her fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the same institution.
