Biography

Christina Chang is an infectious diseases physician-scientist with internationally recognized clinical research expertise in cryptococcal meningitis and cryptococcosis-associated immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (C-IRIS). She completed her medical degree and general medicine physician training in Melbourne and has extensive international clinical trial experience, particularly in resource-limited settings. Chang has led significant research regarding the immunopathogenesis of C-IRIS with a cohort of 130 HIV-CM co-infected persons in Durban, South Africa. She held an Australian NHMRC Early Career Fellowship focused on HIV prevention and cure from 2015 to 2020. Dr. Chang also worked within the INSIGHT clinical trial network on various US-NIH funded studies concerning investigational new agents for COVID-19 treatment from 2020 to 2022. Currently, she serves as an infectious diseases physician at Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, and is a principal investigator for early phase first-in-human studies at the Nucleus Network in Melbourne since April 2023. Her research aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including campaigns against HIV/AIDS and public health advancement.
