Biography

Christina Lightner is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Coordinator of Academic Wellness at Penn State’s Ross Carol Nese College of Nursing. She has over 16 years of nursing experience in labor and delivery, women’s health, and maternal-child nursing, alongside her role as a simulation coordinator. Certified as a Nurse Educator, Lightner actively participates in initiatives aimed at enhancing student support and promoting cultural wellness. Her contributions extend to serving on the advisory board for Building Healthy Academic Communities (BHAC). Lightner has earned her PhD from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and holds a Master’s in Women’s Health Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, as well as Bachelor's and Associate’s degrees in Nursing from Penn State University. Her research focuses on simulation in nursing education and the promotion of wellness among nursing students. She has presented her work at numerous conferences and has multiple publications. Lightner engages in community service and professional organizations, where she is involved in outreach and educational efforts to support nursing education and wellness strategies.
