Biography

Christina Pettan-Brewer is an Adjunct Associate Teaching Professor specializing in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences. A notable discovery involves the suppressed tumor progression due to a single nucleotide mutation in the oxidant-sensitive DNA repair gene, XRCC1. Dr. Pettan-Brewer is passionate about zoological and wildlife medicine, which continuously inspires her research at the interface between human and animal health. She was honored with the Health Fulbright Scholar Award in 2014-2015 for her work in health in Brazil and Latin America and is involved in microbiome research and partnerships across the University of Washington and Latin America.
