Biography

Christina Prokopenko is an Assistant Professor at the Natural Resources Institute, University of Manitoba. She holds a Ph.D. in Biology from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, an M.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Alberta, and a B.Sc. in Science from the University of Guelph. Her research focuses on wildlife behavioral ecology, particularly in Riding Mountain National Park, where she investigated predator-prey dynamics, specifically observing a shift in prey preference from elk to moose by wolves. This research has implications for understanding predator hunting decisions and the ecological factors influencing wildlife behaviors. Her work integrates ecological conditions with wildlife movement and foraging decisions, contributing to conservation management and informing practices related to disease transmission in wildlife populations.
