Dr. Christina Traister

Biography

Christina Traister joins the faculty of the School of Music, Theatre & Dance at the University of Michigan after an 11-year tenure at the Department of Theatre at Michigan State University, where she served five years as the director of the graduate acting program. She teaches a variety of subjects including classical acting, stage combat, movement, and voice. Before returning to her home state of Michigan, she was based in San Francisco as an actor and fight director for twelve years, performing in esteemed venues such as the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, American Shakespeare Collective, and Michigan Shakespeare Festival. Additionally, she had a six-month stint in Taiwan as a stunt performer. Traister is a freelance audiobook narrator, having recorded hundreds of titles for notable publishers. She holds an MFA in acting from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and a BFA in theatre performance from the University of Michigan. She is a certified teacher for four female fight directors through the Society of American Fight Directors and holds memberships in various associations related to acting and voice training.
