Dr. Christina Vester

Biography

Christina Vester is an Associate Professor in Classical Studies at the University of Waterloo. She specializes in Ancient Drama, particularly the works of Euripides, Menander, and Seneca. Vester is actively engaged in research on Greco-Roman households, ancient identity, and historical fiction. She is currently writing a book chapter that focuses on themes of gender and household in antiquity, alongside articles that examine identity destruction in works such as Seneca's 'Troades' and the bloodshed depicted in 'Octavia.' Vester teaches Ancient Greek and Latin, with a focus on Greek and Roman Drama, etymology, and women's roles in ancient literature. She is invested in enhancing digital learning through projects like Vice Verba, an app designed to assist in learning Latin verb paradigms, and Hoi Polloi Logoi, which aims to facilitate learning Ancient Greek. Furthermore, she acts as an Undergraduate and Graduate Advisor and is responsible for supervising various graduate projects in her field. Vester is enthusiastic about mentoring future graduate students and exploring the dynamics of men and women in Greek tragedy.
